Ragnar
Brent and his brothers ran a Ragnar relay race last weekend. I didn't... of course.. please don't be silly. It was a 197 mile race, each person running 3 portions of it, ranging from 2-10 miles. Sometimes running at like 2am! So someone is running at all times, but the person just changes. Brent ran it last year as well, and took the same boss photo each time. Ha.
I'm thinking about running next year with Brent and the fam. But, I pee my pants I'm so scared just thinking about it. We'll see....

An Unusual Perspective
I found this on a random website and was blown away.
By artist, Zander Olsen, these are photos taken that mesh trees with the horizon... instead of having the trees obstruct your view of it. Olsen placed the white material on the trunks in such a way that the horizon is one unbroken line. The photos are taken in the beautiful UK... Surrey, Hampshire, and Wales.

A little Vacation
Brent and I went on a little weekend vacation (but who am I kidding, this whole summer feels like a vacation with no school) to Park City, UT, a rather well-to-do town known for its ski slopes and classy hotels in the winter (and where the celebrities stay during the Sundance Film Festival... so I hear). I mean... look at these houses...
But, in the summer, its way green, and its pretty cute... our hotel was nestled right close among all the green mountains. We stayed at a Mariott Hotel with Brent's family... and I have to be honest, the pool and jacuzzis at the hotel were so classy and beautiful. There were multiple levels of jacuzzis on rock ledges, a pool, grills to cook on, and fire pits continuously running to make s'mores!
It was a pretty lazy weekend. We just had breakfast and dinner together with the family (which sounds easy, but sometimes isn't... there's like 30 people... half of those being under the age of 5... Kudos to Kathy, the mom-in-law for being a planning whiz). Park City also has some great outlets shopping, where Brent and I shopped with a passion! Brent got these sunglasses, and was SO proud. I'm serious, he would wear them inside... ask the nieces and nephews how cool he looked... and would pose in the mirror when people were watching... and when they weren't. The ham!
Brent and I did sleep in a couch pull out bed in the hotel (which was surprisingly comfortable!) with his parents sleeping in the one connecting room, and Brent's brother Kevin and his wife Whitney in the other connecting room. I must say, it was a teeny bit weird, when at 7:30am, I woke up to Brent's dad, Dick, cutting pineapple in the kitchen in the same room as me. Fingers crossed I wasn't snoring, cause lets be honest, I know that happens.
But the weather was stunning (I even laid out at the pool!) and it was sure nice to have a weekend away.
How cute is that farmhouse with the flag?!

Ode to Elizabeth
In honor of the Queen of England's Diamond Jubilee (60 years... heavens), I have a few photos to share. The above was taken on the top floor of a double decker on my way to Paddington Station. Those flags were simply everywhere. They may have been left over from the Royal Wedding...
You can just barely see the classy Kate and dashing William there on the terrace. It was simply packed outside of the Buckingham Palace.
For the Jubilee, I stumbled upon these fabulous pictures of the proceedings. I thought the wedding was crowded, but we definitely didn't have bleachers outside the Palace...

Isn't this surreal?!? Philip looks so dashing and genuine.
This picture of St. Paul's Cathedral from the opposite side of the Thames (and the fleet of boats for the Queen's celebration) does remind me of that surreal time with Deanna where we skipped around in Europe.Tuesday, June 5, 2012
Viva Vegas
We took a little 3 day honeymoon to Las Vegas, and it was so so fabulous. We were pretty nervous at first... We walk into the hotel (the Cosmopolitan Casino/Hotel right on the strip) and it is so smoky and crowded and smells terrible. Girls are wearing simply strings to cover themselves (seriously!) and we were hating it. We go up to the counter, and the guy says he has some good news and bad news... our room has been upgraded... but it isn't yet ready.... and he doesn't have a time frame when it will be. So we just had to wait in the smoky lobby for an hour before we could go up!
But when we did, it was so worth it. We were on the 68th floor, and had a room with a wraparound porch and the stunner view above. With two bathrooms and a full kitchen, not to mention 2 extra large flatscreens... it was living in luxury!
The room had these big art books everywhere, which was classy. Though they did have some very NON-classy books with NON-classy pictures... if you understand me! Lying on the nightstand by the bed no less... of course we were in Vegas I guess. :)
With the room upgrade, we got to have breakfast at the buffet, Wicked Spoon, in the hotel. It was honestly one of the best meals of my life! Prime rib, sorbet, sushi, waffles, egg benedict, oh they had it all! As you can see, I have a bit of a sweet tooth... and Brent likes his red meat and other typical man food....

My plate...
Brent's plate...
And the decorations were marvelous and modern....
We loved it. It was wonderfully decadent. We had lots of time to lounge and go out to eat and splurge and feel good doing it. We did avoid the strip itself as much as possible.... a little too dirty and crowded for us. But no bother, the upgraded room we stayed in is normally $1000 a night! Can you imagine having enough to pay for that out of pocket? What a lifestyle.
We also went to the Wynn Buffet, which we heard was super fancy and delicious. It was wonderful... but not as good as the Wicked Spoon, for sure. Though, I can't get over these flowery decorations that were between the tables.
